Approved Medication Administration Personnel (AMAP)

Job Description

Position:    Approved Medication Administration Personnel

Qualifications:

1. Is not listed on the state administration Nurse Aide Abuse Registry.
2. Has not been convicted of crimes against persons or drug related crimes 
as evidenced by a criminal background check.
3. Has a high school diploma or GED.
4. Is competent in reading and writing English.
5. Has training as identified by current certification in CPR and First Aid.
6. Has successfully completed the facility Medication Administration 
Program approved by the Department of Health and Human Resources 
through the authorizing agency of the Office of Health Facility Licensure 
and Certification. (There will be NO waivers for this.)
7. Has passed the State approved competency test for the AMAP Program.
8. Has a copy of the Resident Rights provided and explained.
9. Has participated in a retraining program every two years.
10. Is monitored and supervised by the Registered Professional Nurse.
11. At least 18 years old
12. Valid driver’s license
13. Vehicle in good running order
14. Current auto insurance
15. Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs.

Pay Range:  $9.00-$11.00 per hour

General Description:

1. Administer medications and document administration as required.
2. Monitoring of MARs and medication storage.
3. Document all services provided through a progress note.
4. Ensure physician orders are current, properly documented and communicated to direct care staff and others.
5. Monitoring of client medical equipment for safety and proper functioning.
6. Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.

Responsibilities:

1. Document all activities through progress notes.

2. Attend and participate in regular staff training and scheduling meetings.

3. Maintain confidentiality and privacy regarding all client’s information.

4. Respect the rights of the client and the client’s family.

5. Complete daily documentation of all agency required material.

6. Complete incident reports in accordance with policy and procedures.

7. Understand and implement the agency’s philosophy, policies and mission.

8. Understand and follow the agency chain of communication.

9. Work cooperatively with other team members to carry out the goals and objectives of the client.

10. Ensure the safety and well being of the client on a daily basis.

11. Work cooperatively with other team members to carry out the program goals and objectives for each client.

12. Develop and foster a professional relationship with the client based on mutual respect and trust.

13. Report any actual or suspected abuse/neglect in accordance with policy and procedure.

14. Other client specific duties as assigned by the supervisor.

12. Complete all AMAP shadowing
